The Benson Story

Here at Sir Hans Sloane we really are a small company with a big heart and The Benson Collection is a result of a true story which we hope you’ll enjoy reading – for dog and chocolate lovers everywhere.
In December 2010 we had a huge amount of publicity around our Chocolate Christmas trees. They were 28cm tall and pure chocolate – a true chocolate lovers gift.
Sadly, due to difficulties with the postal service, our trees were not reaching people to the high standards we expected - despite our wonderful packaging and careful padding out they arrived damaged and therefore we had to ask people to order different gifts, refund the money or – if people lived locally to us in London or Surrey we were able to hand deliver the trees.
One lady in Scotland was determined to have our tree and it became a true story of “Planes, trains and automobiles” in terms of ensuring its safe delivery. Bill hand delivered the tree to her son in London who then managed to – despite the very heavy December snow – reach his parents with the tree – now over to our customer to tell her story – name and address withheld and story published with the permission of our customer – NB Benson is the culprit’s true name …

"Just wanted to thank you and Clare for all your help in ensuring that I received the choc tree. It arrived at my son's office in London as promised and then he, in turn, managed to deliver it intact to Edinburgh..
I then gift-wrapped it and put it away in our study to be handed over to my chocoholic niece for a pressie. Alas despite all of our best efforts I had not factored in the biggest risk to its safe arrival - My Very Greedy Greyhound!!!
Despite putting a sign on the study door, my son left it open and the mutt obviously sniffed out the goodies - he has impeccable taste!! I almost wept when I realised what he had done and my son very nearly did not see another Christmas!!
I can only hope that you will still be making the trees next year and I will try again. Thanks again for your excellent customer service - albeit in vain!
